awkward out of context

hi!

me again.

i just wanted to share that two years ago today, i was at the british library.  my journal entry for that day is simply a list.  i saw the codex sinaiticus, the gutenberg bible, the lindisfarne gospels.  i saw haydn’s publishing contract, handel’s messiah, and elgar’s third symphony.  there were doodles in the margins.  i saw jane austen’s writing desk, the small portable one.  i saw globes made in 1621 and a map of “longe isleland” dated 1664 and i saw the magna carta.

all of the history, the literature, the language in that one room.  the mind reels.  i might have cried, i can’t remember, but i can safely say it was one of the best days of my life.
